Academic Research

I'm a postdoctoral researcher in neuroscience, at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit in the University of Cambridge.

I studied for my BA in Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford, where I won a scholarship and had the top dissertation in my year, before graduating with a double first in 2017. I then moved to University College London for my PhD, where I was on the Wellcome 4-year programme in Neuroscience, and won the Sully Scholarship for my work on mental effort and depression.

Now, my research still centres on trying to understand motivational problems in depression, but I've become particularly interested in the role that problems in energy regulation may play. This is the nascent field of Metabolic Psychiatry, which is an attempt to bridge the gap between mind and body, and understand how physical constraints on the brain affect our thoughts and feelings.
